Glassdoor Takes a Cue from LinkedIn with New Engagement Features
In a move inspired by LinkedIn, workplace and salary review platform Glassdoor is introducing short videos, polls, and images to boost community interaction. Professional platforms are diving into short video content after witnessing the success of popular apps like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Following suit, LinkedIn recently experimented with a TikTok-style video feed, acknowledging the high demand for video content among users.
Glassdoor is aiming to replicate LinkedIn's engagement levels by incorporating polls and short videos. Additionally, the platform is launching Worklife Pros, a group of curated individuals sharing insights on topics such as remote work dynamics, work-life balance, mental health in the workplace, and career advancement skills. These pros, selected from various sectors, will feature prominently in the main feed and community feeds, allowing users to engage either anonymously or using their real names.
By leveraging technology and resources from its acquisition of Fishbowl in 2021, Glassdoor introduced anonymous community features last year, leading to a significant increase in engagement. The platform now boasts 25 million registered community users, up from 7 million in June 2023. Furthermore, there have been over 44 million conversations in different community bowls, with community users showing 50 times more engagement than traditional Glassdoor users.
The introduction of these new features has not only enhanced user engagement but also spurred overall platform growth. Glassdoor now attracts 63 million monthly unique visitors, a significant improvement from the stagnant 55 million active users in early 2021.
