As of September 28, over 74% of cell towers in North Carolina’s hardest-hit areas were incapacitated due to Hurricane Helene’s onslaught. However, thanks to ongoing restoration efforts, that percentage has plummeted to 17%, according to the FCC.
T-Mobile highlighted that despite the partial deployment of SpaceX's direct-to-cell satellite network, early-stage access could provide essential support. The company reported that less than 1% of network sites remain offline in specific regions where conditions are exceptionally challenging, with the network nearly fully restored in affected areas.
